Toshiba U5050 TV Vs Nokia Smart Android TV | The Biggest Comparison 2020

Toshiba Vs Nokia TV: Which Performs Better?

With their pretty good picture quality, Toshiba and Nokia TVs 2020 have emerged as one of the best contenders in the budget category. Recently we did a side-by-side comparison of the 50 inches Toshiba U5050 with the 50 inches Nokia TV, to see which one out of the two was a better bet. To watch the video comparison on our YouTube channel Techiebeez India, Click here

As including more than 2 TVs in a single-frame would have reduced the image size, we included only two TVs in our comparison. In upcoming videos, on Techiebeez India, we will compare Motorola & Hisense with Nokia. The Diwali sale is starting from tomorrow, so for your convenience sake, I have sorted out the best 5 TVs in all sizes according to their performance. To see that list, Click Here.

Both Toshiba U5050 & Nokia are very good performers, which makes it pretty difficult to tell the better out of the two, however, there are some individual strong points of each TV, which I will discuss here. Both these TVs come with a VA panel, because of which, their brightness & colour reproduction is pretty good.Toshiba TV tends to display deeper darker shades of each colour, whereas, in Nokia, the colours are comparatively lighter in shades, but more bright & vivid. However, which of these colour reproduction, you will prefer, depends on your personal liking.

Generally, in comparison to ADS & IPS panels, VA panels have better brightness and they display vibrant & punchy colours.  IPS & ADS panels, even if they have a wider colour gamut, they will not be able to reproduce a bright punchy colour reproduction, alike VA panel TVs. IPS & ADS panels reproduce a darker shade of each colour, which appears as if those colours have been mixed with a bit of Black colour. In IPS & ADS panel TVs, detail clarity also gets sacrificed.  Even if the blacks are deep, they tend to overpower details.

Sony is the only company that has been able to reproduce more or less VA panel like colours in its IPS panel TVs. Though Sony X8000H comes with an IPS panel, its colour reproduction bears a striking resemblance to VA panel TVs & simultaneously, you also get to see clarity in the details of dark scenes Now, coming to the next difference, Nokia is much brighter than the Toshiba TV, because of which Nokia's pictures appear brighter. If you check the picture performance of TVs in the same price segment, you will generally mark that VA panel TVs will have better brightness than the IPS & ADS panel TVs. The Blacks are deep in both Nokia & Toshiba TVs. However, detail clarity in dark scenes is a tad better in Nokia. Till now, I used to praise Toshiba for its detail clarity in dark scenes, but now, this Nokia TV seems to outperform even Toshiba in this field.Despite having a VA panel both Nokia & Toshiba have a decent viewing angle. Even when viewed from the side, both these TVs don't show much deviation from the normal.

The picture upscaling capability of Nokia TV is better than Toshiba. When played through USB, 720p and 1080p videos play in a better resolution on the Nokia TV.Coming to the audio, here too, the performance of Nokia is better. It is not that Toshiba comes with poor audio quality. Its sound is loud enough and has deep bass too, but the clarity is not as good as Nokia TV.

In Nokia, you get to hear clear & crisp dialogues as well as music. Audio clarity, in Nokia, tends to enhance the viewing experience even more. Both TVs come with a single-band Wi-Fi, but neither of them creates any problem in this regard.

In fact, you get stable Wi-Fi connectivity with your Broadband. Even if your Broadband speed is 40 Mbps, you will be able to play 4k videos without any buffering.

Now, coming to the operating system, Toshiba comes with Linux-based Vidaa OS, because of which it boots up faster than Nokia.  However, Vidaa OS comes with its limitations. You cannot side-load outside applications on it. Nokia, which has Android OS, comes with Google Play Store and gives the liberty to side-load applications from outside too.

Toshiba doesn't support many applications, like Hotstar, and, as of now, all latest Bollywood movies are released on Hotstar only, so definitely this is a minus point for Toshiba. Through gaming console or PC, both of these TVs exhibit a good gaming performance. Both have considerably low input lag & faster response time in addition to displaying very good graphics.

Now coming to the after-sales services, both offer very poor services. From Jeeves, at least after much pain & persuasions, you can get services, but many people have complained regarding non-responsiveness of the Toshiba service centres. So, before placing an order for any of the TVs, do ensure that you have a proper service centre of that TV in your city.
