Best Of The Best TVs Under the 1 lakh category

Best Of The Best TVs Under the 1 lakh category

There are a few TVs in this category that qualify in a real sense for watching the HDR & Dolby Vision content on Netflix, Disney Hotstar and Amazon Prime. Under the 1 lakh category, there are only entry-level models of the higher brands, and, in their entry-level TVs, these companies neither give more brightness nor they extend Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support. If you just need to play normal SDR content or set-top box channels on these TVs, you can enjoy programs on any TV that comes even with a brightness varying between 350 and 400 Nits. But, if like me, you watch mostly Netflix content, then, there is a very limited choice for you in this category. The first five ranked TVs in this countdown will grant you the best HDR performance. But you need to remember that none of the TVs is perfect. Even the costliest TVs have some Cons on them. I will tell you the Pros and Cons of all these TVs, you need to take your purchasing decision accordingly, keeping your requirement and budget in mind.

So first of all, let me tell you about those TVs on which you get the best HDR performance.

 1. Vu Masterpiece Glo QLED TV

These are those TVs on which you get a brightness of around 500 Nits or above. And, these are the TVs that comprise the top TVs in the budget category. In this category, the top TV is Vu Masterpiece TV. On this TV, apart from high brightness, Full Array Local Dimming and 120 Hz refresh rate, you get, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. In the budget category, there is no other TV in which you get all these features. On this TV, apart from a very good Good SDR performance, you get a good HDR performance, too. In addition to this, the TV is fully appropriate for high end-gaming also. But if you buy this TV thinking that its colours will be like Samsung QLEDs, then you are mistaken. In none of the budget category TVs, you get Samsung's QLED-like vibrant colours. The colour reproduction of the Vu Masterpiece TV is certainly good, but it is not as punchy as that on the Samsung QLEDs. This TV is available from 55 inches onwards up to 85 inches. And in the budget category, this TV will top each size segment. As far as the aftersales services of Vu are concerned, it provides the best aftersales services in the budget category. In addition to the third-party services, it also provides services directly. This gives you two options to get your issue resolved.

 2. Sony X80K

Sony X80K TV though this TV does not come with much brightness, Sony's high-quality hardware and multiple technologies work together to boost its picture quality so that along with a good SDR performance you get a decent HDR & Dolby Vision performance too. This Sony TV comes with an IPS panel, because of which, its Blacks do not overpower the details in dark scenes as seen on Samsung TVs. In comparison to Samsung TVs, dark scene details will be more clear on the Sony TVs. On this TV, you get both Dolby Vision as well as Dolby Atmos, but, the refresh rate of the TV is only 60 Hz. This TV is available from 55 inches onwards up to 85 inches.

 3. Hisense U6G

On the third rank is the Hisense U6G TV. The brightness of this TV is good because of which its HDR dark scene performance is decent. This is a FALD TV that has 64 dimming zones. The backlight of this TV regulates the dimming zones much more efficiently than the Toshiba QLED M550LP TV. However, this TV has only a refresh rate of 60 Hz. If you are not a hard-core gamer, then this TV is the best option for you at a very reasonable price, on which, apart from a very good SDR performance you also get decent HDR performance. This TV is available in 55 and 65 inches variants.

 4. Sony X80AJ

The last year's model, Sony X80AJ stands on the 4th rank. This is the lowest-priced Sony TV on which you get Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The brightness of this TV and its motion handling capacity is inferior to Sony X80K and Sony X80J, then too, performance-wise it beats many other TVs.

  Samsung Neo QLED QN80B

Friends, here I would like to stop this countdown for a moment and tell you about a very good, small-sized TV. The Samsung Neo QLED QN80B or last year's model QN90A are currently the best 50 inches TV under 1 lakh. On this TV, apart from high brightness, you get the best SDR performance among all the TVs mentioned here. On this TV, you get to see deep Blacks and vivid colours. This TV gives a better performance than Samsung The Frame TV. However, in a dark room, blooming is visible on it, and, during dark scenes, the Black Crush issue is evident, when details in the highlights get lost behind those deep Blacks. However, here, I would like to tell you that the Black Crush issue is a common issue on most Samsung TVs, so it is not a very big deal. Despite its cons, this is a very good TV, whose performance falls between QLED and OLED TVs.

 4. Hisense Tornado

So moving ahead in this countdown, let's talk about the fifth-ranked TV, which is Hisense Tornado. Hisense Tornado TV is available in three sizes 50, 55 and 65 inches. This is an all-rounder TV, which comes with very good picture quality, and, gives a good audio performance too. The brightness of this TV is good, on which, you get an overall good picture quality. The HDR performance of this TV is decent and the HD channels also look good. You can even watch SD channels comfortably on it. This TV performs better than the higher brands' entry-level TVs.

On the sixth rank lies a group of TVs. The TVs included in this group are Sony X75K, Samsung BU8570, Samsung The Frame and Samsung Q60B TVs. You do not get Dolby Vision on any of these TVs. The picture quality of Samsung The Frame is almost at par with Samsung Q60B. The major difference between them is that Samsung The Frame comes with an Art Mode and 128 Hz refresh rate, which constitute a major attraction for Art lovers and gamers. On both these Samsung QLED TVs, you get vibrant colours and very good SDR performance, however, their HDR performance is not good. Black Crush issue dominates both these TVs because of which HDR dark scene detail clarity is not good on them. Apart from this, some light bleeding complaints have also come to my knowledge with regards to Samsung The Frame and the company tends to overlook this problem by terming it as normal. Samsung BU8570 gives you better brightness than Sony X75K. On this Samsung TV, you get dynamic crystal colour, which indicates the highest colour vibrancy on any Samsung 4k TV after its QLEDs range. The colours of this Samsung TV are pretty good that stand close to their QLED TVs. The TV's SDR performance is also very good. The only problem lies in the HDR dark scenes, when details get veiled behind the Blacks as in Samsung TVs Blacks are very deep. The HDR dark scene performance, upscaling through USB and viewing angle of Sony X75K are better than these Samsung QLEDs. Though the SDR performance of the Sony X75K TV is pretty good, its SDR peak brightness is low in comparison to the Samsung QLEDs and Samsung BU8570 TV.

Here, I would especially like to mention Toshiba C350LP TV and Hisense A6H TVs. Toshiba C350LP TV is a very good TV, which despite having a brightness of only 350 Nits, performs well during the HDR dark scenes. The overall performance of the TV is excellent according to its price. Hisense A6H is also a very good TV, but, I found Toshiba a little better. However, I would advise you to go only for the 43 & 50 inches TVs of these series, as I feel, that the 350 Nits brightness on the TV is less for a screen bigger than these sizes.

So now, we shall move ahead in this countdown. After this will come some bright budget TVs that include Vu Premium Android, Nokia with Dolby Vision (Onkyo or JBL speakers) Motorola Revou, Motorola ZX Pro, OnePlus U1S and Toshiba M550LP TVs. On all these TVs, you get a very good SDR performance, and, a decent HDR performance. The Toshiba M550LP TV, despite being much costlier, is unable to give a better HDR dark scene performance than these TVs. On top of it, whenever any bright object gets displayed against a dark background, then blooming is much visible on it, which is absent on these other TVs. On these other TVs, the dark part is unaffected by illuminated objects displayed on it. The good functioning of a FALD system depends on two factors, one is, the number of zones on the TV, and, the other is, how fast these dimming zones are able to change their light output. The more the number of dimming zones on a TV, the more accurately the TV would be able to control its lights, and thus, make blooming neglible. This Toshiba QLED TV is unable to control its backlight efficiently. Its dimming zones fail to light up, get dimmed or extinguish, swiftly, on the requirement of the scenes. Because of this, blooming is much visible on this TV, and, dark scenes also do not look good. This is the reason why the HDR performance of this Toshiba TV suffers. You get a better HDR dark scene performance on these other cheaper non-FALD TVs falling in this group. If any technology given on a TV doesn't work as required, it deteriorates the performance instead, which is clearly visible on this Toshiba TV. OnePlus U1S is also a good TV, whose picture quality is pretty good. The colour reproduction of this OnePlus TV is better than the budget QLED TVs. The brightness of the TV, while playing SDR content is very good and the HDR videos also look decent on it. After this, fall a group of other TVs, which includes LG UQ9000, Samsung BU8000, LG UQ8040, LG UQ75, LG UP75, Samsung Crystal Pro and Samsung Neo Crystal TVs. All these are the entry-level models of the higher brands, on which, you get a very good SDR performance, but, the HDR performance of these TVs is not that attractive. LG UQ9000 gives you the best overall performance, followed by Samsung BU8000. The other LG TVs also give you a decently refined overall performance. Picture upscaling through USB will be better on the LG TVs, and, the set-top box performance of LG TVs will also be better than the Samsung TVs. However, while watching SDR content, brightness will be the best on the Samsung BU8000 TV. On the LG TVs, you get better HDR dark scene clarity as the Blacks on Samsung tend to overpower the details. The 43 and 50 inches variants of LG UP75 and UQ75 come with a VA panel, whereas the other models have IPS panels in them. To get an idea of which out of the two would be better, the one with VA panel or that with IPS, you need to watch this comparison. Though both the TVs give a good performance, the main difference is that the VA panel TV shows better contrast and there is a brightness in its colours, whereas, the IPS panel TVs come with wide viewing angles and their colours are a bit on the darker side, as if, a little black colour has been mixed in all their colours. There is no noticeable difference between the last year's model UP75 and this year's model UQ75, whichever is being sold at a lower price you can opt for that TV. On the LG TVs, you get better HDR dark scene clarity than the Samsung Crystal TVs and the viewing angles are also better on the IPS panel LG TVs. In comparison to the Samsung TVs, picture upscaling through USB is better on the LG TVs. The picture quality of Samsung Crystal Pro and Samsung Crystal Neo is almost similar. Whichever costs you less, go for that. LG UQ8040 & LG UQ8020 are also the same TVs, the only difference is that in UQ8040 you get a magic remote, which doesn't come with the other variant. In the group, the brightest TV is Samsung BU8000. If there would not have been a Black Crush issue on the Samsung TVs, then, their overall performance would have been better than LG, because Samsung TVs come with more brightness. For your convenience, I have given a ranking to these TVs.
1. LG UQ9000
2. Samsung BU8000
3. LG UQ80
4. LG UP75, LG UQ75, Samsung Crystal Pro TV & Samsung Neo Crystal Pro TV
After this will come the TCL QLED TVs, including the new models of TCL. All these TVs are above average. Their SDR performance is pretty good and they perform well when connected to a set-top box. However, their brightness is not enough to give a good HDR and Dolby vision performance, which falls below average. Apart from this, the aftersales services of TCL are pathetic.
10. In this last group fall the QLED TVs from Motorola and Nokia, and the Motorola Revou 2 4k TV. The performance of these QLED TVs is much inferior to their simple 4K TVs. The dark scene performance of these QLEDs is the worst. Motorola Revou 2 is also just an average TV.
Now, I would like to tell you something. This is the Reliance showroom, where BPL, Mi, iFfalcon, OnePlus, TCL, Toshiba and Hisense TVs are displayed side by side with the higher brand TVs. Amongst them, the worst performance is being displayed by the iFfalcon K71, BPL and Mi TVs. On these TVs, there is much banding. And, in comparison to the higher brands, their brightness is very low and colour reproduction is lacklustre. OnePlus is the only TV, despite being displayed side by side with the higher brands was giving a very good performance. This is the reason, why I do not recommend TVs from these companies. In my opinion, when better TVs are available, there is no logic in recommending the inferior TVs. Haier brand is suitable only for buying washing machines. The picture quality of their TVs is not good, there is much pixelation on them and the picture quality is bad. As far as TVs are concerned, Philips is no longer that prestigious brand, which it used to be in the past. Its TVs are just average ones. In this showroom, the performance of the budget TVs that appealed to me is the 32 inches Toshiba L50 TV and the 32 inches Hisense TV Though both these TVs give a very good performance, Toshiba L50 seemed better than the Hisense TV. Through this video, I have tried to give you much clarity, and, before the festival sales, I will also release a list of the best 75, 65, 55, 43, 40 and 32 inches TVs, so that you can buy them confidently. And, if even after this, you face any difficulty in selecting a TV, you can write to me in the comment section or on my mail and ask me for the best TV among the TVs that you have in your mind. But, please also mention where you need to place the TV. So friends, this much only for today, meet you in my next video, till then, take care and stay safe.
