Xiaomi To Launch Mi Stick, An Android TV Streaming Device In India

Xiaomi is all set to launch its Android TV FHD streaming device, Mi Stick, on the 6th of next month

Throwing tough competition to Amazon's Firestick, Xiaomi is all set to launch its Android TV FHD streaming device, Mi Stick, on the 6th of next month. The Mi TV Stick is expected to be priced lower than the Amazon Fire TV Stick, already popular with users in India. Earlier this year, Xiaomi had launched its 4k Mi Box on Flipkart.

This full-HD Mi Android streaming device would run on the latest Operating System Android 9.0 Pie. The Mi TV Stick, which was globally launched earlier this month

would come with a built-in Google Assistant and Chromecast.

This was officially disclosed through a teaser posted on the Xiaomi's social media site. This Mi Stick was launched in Europe, earlier this month, for EUR 39.99 (approx. Rs 3,500). It will rival the Amazon Fire TV Stick and through it, users will be able to stream contents directly from services such as Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Netflix, and others.

The Mi Stick would come with a voice-enabled remote and built-in Chromecast. The stick would permit streaming up to full-HD resolution at 60fps. The Google Play Store for Android TV would be available on the device, permitting users to download and install thousands of applications available there.

The Xiaomi Mi TV Stick has a small form factor like a pen drive and can be connected directly to the HDMI port of any TV. The remote bears a striking resemblance to the 4k Mi TV Box and comes with dedicated buttons for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

This device is basically used to covert a non-smart HDMI TV to a fully-Android smart TV. It can also enhance the smartness of a TV running on a Linux operating system. And, can come to the rescue of those who are fed up with their TVs running on an old OS that has lost support for the latest applications.
