Blaupunkt 55 inches QLED TV: Know Why It is Best Budget QLED TV 2022 In India

Know Why Blaupunkt QLED TV QD7020 Is The Best Budget QLED TV 2022 In India

I have always believed that in the budget category, the QLED term is just a marketing gimmick, as none of the budget TVs gives vibrant colours like the Samsung QLEDs!

However, in the QLED TV that I am going to review today, on that, you get vibrant colours like a Samsung QLED TV. I have reviewed almost all budget QLEDs, and, I have closely observed that none of them has anything additional rather than being just a simple 4k TV. Neither did they have real QLED-like colour vibrancy, nor, their HDR performance was good. However, this TV has forced me to change my perception of budget QLEDs. This TV has the capability to beat the entry and mid-range TVs of even the higher brands. It is available in the 50, 55 and 65 inches variants.

This is the Blaupunkt 55 inches QLED TV, 55QD7020. Basically, Blaupunkt is a German company, whose manufacturing is being done by SPPL, which is the Noida-based company that is manufacturing many other good TVs. Inside the box, apart from the TV, there is a silver and black, dual-tone finished remote, which looks elegant and premium. On the remote, you get direct buttons to Amazon Prime, YouTube and Netflix. Apart from this, there is an extra button, which you can customise with the shortcut of any application of your choice. The remote also comes with a Google Assistant button.

In addition to the remote, there are two AAA batteries, a wall-mount two-piece metallic legs, a user manual guide, an AV cable and a power cord.

On the connectivity front, this TV comes with 3 HDMI and  2 USB ports. It has both HDMI ARC and CEC. Apart from this, the TV has an RF input port, an AV port, an optical digital port, an antenna port and an Ethernet port. The TV comes with dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v5.0.

The construction of the TV is pretty good, which does not give any hint that it is a budget-range TV. The TV is bezel-less from three sides, and, only a thin Black frame is there that envelops the TV on three sides. The bottom bezel comes with a silver metallic finish, which stands apart in beautiful contrast to the Black screen and the stand. Here in the centre, the branding is given and exactly underneath it, there is a far-field microphone, along with a physical button, through which you can operate this TV even without a remote. By pressing it, you can access the power on/off, volume up/down and can also change the source. The legs of this TV are metallic and their stylish appearance gives a premium feel to this TV. Though this magnet gets strongly attracted to the back of this TV, it does not mean that the construction of the TV is metallic. It is constructed out of high-grade ABS plastic. The magnet gets attracted to each and every TV as there is a lot of metal inside it. All the ports are located on the sides of the TV, which makes them easily accessible to users. Overall the built quality of the TV is pretty good and in looks it is stylish and premium.

 Real Performance

Now, let's talk about its real performance. Here, I would like to tell you that my personal TV is the 75 inches Sony X90J, this is the reason, why my expectations from the picture quality of a TV are a tad higher. I never recommend any TV, which, despite being costly does not give an overall good performance. I suggest only those TVs whose picture quality is enjoyable for me too. And this is the TV, whose picture quality appealed to me a lot. The colour reproduction of this TV fully justifies the definition of a QLED. The colours appear vibrant and punchy. And above all, you get to see a good accuracy in them. The colours do not look unnatural at all, by being overly saturated. The colours display a fineness, which is seen only in the higher brand TVs. Despite having an IPS panel, the colours of this TV are very vibrant and going by the fact that it is an IPS panel TV, the Blacks are also pretty deep.

The SDR contents look ultimate on this TV. You get to see a 3D depth in the pictures that exhibit much detail clarity, which creates an illusion of their being realistic. As if you were watching all those scenes in reality through your naked eyes. The pictures of this TV are so vibrant and attractive that watching programs on it becomes an addiction.

 The Real Peak Brightness

The real peak brightness of this TV is around 400 Nits, which in the least cannot be termed as "The Best", but, at a time when the brightness of even the mid-range TVs of the higher brands is limited to 350 Nits, this 400 Nits brightness value for a budget category TV is pretty good. The brightness of this TV is such that the SDR content looks very good on it and even HDR and Dolby Vision contents look pretty decent. Even the HDR dark scenes display much detail clarity on this TV.

 Picture Upscaling

As far as picture upscaling through the USB is concerned, the picture upscaling is superb! And these are the 720p movies, which are getting upscaled in a higher resolution. I have not seen these vibrant colours even on my Sony TV, which this TV is exhibiting while playing a 720p movie. The Toshiba M550 QLED TV despite being highly priced did not give a colour reproduction even close to this TV, and, neither its HDR dark scene performance was up to the mark.

 Set-top Box Performance

Now let's talk about its set-top box performance. The HD channels look pretty good on this TV, and, the SD channels also look pretty decent, according to their transmission quality. As far as motion blur is concerned, it is much controlled. However, still, in some scenes it gets visible.

 Audio

Coming to its audio; it is pretty loud and there is decent clarity in the dialogues. Apart from this, the dialogues are accompanied by a heaviness, which grants a cinematic experience. You can also enjoy music on it. You will not need any soundbar with this TV until you desire a very high volume with very deep bass. However, you will not get to listen to any Dolby Atmos effect on it! This, I have been telling you repeatedly that you do not get Dolby Atmos effect even on any soundbar, then what to talk about a TV!

 Smartness

Coming to the smartness of this TV; Here, listening to a Google TV UI, many get confused! They say that they need an Android TV, not a Google TV! So here, I would like to inform you, that this is an Android TV only. It is just that you get an extra Google TV user interface on it, in the same way, as you get the Patchwall UI on all Xiaomi TVs. In all the latest Android TVs, since 2020, Google TV UI is being given, which makes the browsing experience simpler. You get all your favourite contents right there on your home screen so that you do not need to enter different applications searching for them. On this TV also you can sideload outside applications and get access to the GooglePlay Store. For casting content, you need to download the Google Home application on your phone, and then, you need to keep both the TV and your phone on the same network. For the first time, I found a little lag, while casting contents. However, I have observed in most of the TVs that this lag eventually goes away after a few usages.

 HDR Gaming

If we talk about gaming, then, HDR gaming looks pretty good on it. Though the features related to hardcore gaming are not present on this TV, gaming is pretty enjoyable on it as the graphics are very good and the colour vibrancy of this TV makes them more attractive. If you are not a hardcore gamer who desires ALLM, high refresh rate, and, VRR, then, you will certainly enjoy gaming on it. The TV comes with a decent response time and I did not observe any stuttering or lag on it. You need to enter into the settings of the HDMI, through which you are connecting your gaming console, and, you need to select the console mode. For gaming, you can choose the picture mode as Vivid HDR10 mode, and, adjust it according to your taste. This TV does not come with a separate game mode, so when you connect any HDR game, the TV goes into the HDR 10 mode.

Now, I would like to clear up your confusion regarding the purchase of TVs. Many people come asking me for a TV that would last 7 to 8 years! So here, I would like to put in that just as there is no guarantee of a person's life, in the same way, nobody can tell about the life of a TV! It might last for 5 to 6 years, and, it might go out of order during the initial 1 to 2 years, too. If you go to my comment section, you will find a number of comments, over there, from people who have purchased Sony, Samsung and LG TVs. They keep on complaining about the unsatisfactory response of these companies. Simultaneously, they also ask me not to review these TVs! So then, tell me, what other alternatives I am left with? I am telling you very clearly that the expected life of a TV, irrespective of the fact that it is from a budget category or from a higher brand, is only 3 to 4 years! If it goes beyond that it would be your good destiny.

 Aftersales Services

Now let's talk about the aftersales services of this TV. Here also, I would like to tell you very clearly that in the budget category almost all companies do not provide very fast services, because, none of these companies has a vast service network of their own. For aftersales services, these companies are dependent on a third party, i.e., the local service centres!

Blaupunkt 55 inches QLED TV, 55QD7020

They tie up with these local technicians and provide their services. And as parts are not readily available at these local TV repair centres, they need to write to the company for it, and, in this process, the services get delayed! But, despite being late or early, you do get services from all these companies. And this is also not the case that the services of the higher brands are very good! Their service network is definitely vast, but, they work on their own terms and conditions! There are many people who feel cheated after visiting Sony, Samsung and LG service centres, as they charge exorbitantly for the replacement of parts.

It is a matter of pride for us that a TV manufactured in India is able to beat the Hisense and Toshiba TVs, manufactured by a Chinese TV giant.

Pros

  • Affordable QLED TV
  • Great performance
  • Simple Fluid UI
  • Far-Field Mic
  • Better viewing Angles
  • Great Sound Output

Cons

  • No HDMI eARC
  • IPS Glow
  • Average Aftersales
